The 28th of September 2017 has been set as the date of Opening the Gendang Jaga-jaga marking the start of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Accession to the Throne.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda says the Opening of the Gendang Jaga-jaga Ceremony will be on Thursday 28th September 2017, while the closing ceremony will be on Thursday, 12th October 2017.  His Royal Highness delivered the sabda yesterday during the Third Meeting of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Accession to the Throne.   The meeting held yesterday is a follow-up of the Second Meeting of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne last February. It took place at the Prime Minister's Office Building in Jalan Perdana Menteri.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince as the Patron of the Advisory Committee for the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Accession to The Throne, was greeted by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien as a member of the celebration's Advisory Committee. Also welcoming His Royal Highness the Crown Prince were Co-Chairpersons of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Di-Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara;  Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, the Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim,  Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti, and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Mohd Nawawi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Haji Awang Mohd Taha, the Private and Confidential Secretary of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The meeting commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and doa selamat led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal, a Member of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar in his welcoming speech among other things touched on the agendas presented during the meeting.

In the sabda, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince reiterated the Titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam which emphasises that programmes for the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne should be proposed and planned very carefully and possess historical value that makes the people eager to witness or join it and is not evaluated simply on the number of events planned.  His Royal Highness also believes that every sectoral committee is actively planning and arranging programmes while taking into account several matters.

The presence of His Royal Highness portrays the Crown Prince's high commitment and attentiveness in leading the direction of every aspect of planning and preparations to be implemented. The Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne is an opportunity for all citizens and residents in the country to celebrate His Majesty's glorious reign as a wise Monarch who always cares for the people's solidarity and well being. In this Executive Meeting, Co-chairpersons of the Sectoral Committees for the Golden Jubilee Celebration presented on the latest developments of the planned programmes and activities. Among the key matters that were discussed was the highlight of the Golden Jubilee Celebration which will be the Royal Parade, as held during the Silver Jubilee in 1992. The discussions showed the progress made in the necessary preparations for the celebration and it reflects the commitment of the Sectoral Committees in ensuring the successful implementation of the Golden Jubilee Celebration.
