SEMPORNA

Education policies implemented by the Education Ministry have produced excellent human capital at the federal and state levels, said Bugaya assemblyman Datuk Ramlee Marahaban.

Therefore, there was no need to establish the Ministry of Education at state level as the existing education system is at its best, he said when met after officiating at the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) Entrepreneurship carnival yesterday.

Ramlee said that all this while, the State Government was working closely with the Federal Government to provide the best educational facilities for children.

“I believe the opposition can only dream of setting up the Education Ministry in Sabah. Setting up a ministry will involve a huge cost and to coordinate the ministry is another story.

“The opposition can promise the moon and stars without realizing that they cannot make their dreams come true,” said Ramlee in response to an opposition party’s call for the setting up of the Ministry of Education in Sabah.

Ramlee, who is also the Assistant Minister of Finance, said the current system of education under the Ministry of Education had benefited the children and the education policies were well implemented.

He added that the opposition should consider all aspects before giving false hopes to the people.

Earlier in his speech, Ramlee urged the people in Semporna, especially youths, to take advantage of the opportunities provided by Mara to be involved in business.

Ramlee said Mara was one of the best options for people to seek help, training as well as financial aid to start a business.

He also said that the carnival, organized by Mara with the cooperation of the District Office, was a good collaboration to reach out to the people to provide information.

The entrepreneurship carnival was aimed to encourage students to get involved in entrepreneurship and develop their business.

Also present were state Mara director Ruzlan Abd Malek and District Officer Dr Chacho Bullah.
