More than five million JustGrab bookings have been made one month after its launch, the ride-hailing provider said in an update yesterday, adding that it has translated to shorter waiting times for commuters as well.
The trial for the JustGrab service began on March 22, with the full rollout taking place a week later.
Under the new service, five taxi operators — SMRT Taxis, Prime Taxi, Premier Taxis, Trans-Cab and HDT Singapore Taxi — will implement dynamic pricing for trips booked through the Grab mobile application.
The average estimated time of arrival for JustGrab rides is 3.7 minutes, down from the five minutes for the majority of Grab rides previously, the company said. Ride bookings via JustGrab for taxi driver-partners have also increased by 30 per cent, it added.
They are earning S$100 more per week pre-incentives, and S$220 post-incentives.
The highest earner received S$2,600 in JustGrab fares within a week, before taking into account the incentives.
Under Grab’s incentive programme, taxi driver-partners earn bonuses when they make a certain number of trips.
This week, for example, those who complete 60, 90 and 120 JustGrab trips will receive S$200, S$300 and S$400 as a bonus.
Trans-Cab driver Wong Koon Siong, 62, said he joined Grab “shortly after JustGrab was launched”.
“On average, I take around 15 JustGrab bookings a day and my income has increased by at least S$50 a day,” he said.
