Twenty-two Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) students, in the AC-4312 Communication and Event Design module, worked together to organise the 'Under-the-Ground UBD Arts Market', that is currently being held in the basement of the university's Chancellor Hall.

In an interview, Awang Muhammad Khalil Hazazi bin Abdul Latif, the Marketing Director of the Under-The-Ground UBD Arts Market, explained what prompted the students to host such an event.

"We realised that there are a lot of creative artists who would like to sell their work, and at the same time to promote their creativity to the public, thus creating a market for their items. This event is being held in support of Bruneian artists, and we are glad for the tremendous show of support from the public."

Twenty-five local vendors are participating in the arts festival, which also aims to showcase the capabilities of local young entrepreneurs in the creative arts industry. "Most of the vendors here are members of the local arts industry. Being artists ourselves, this is a good opportunity to promote the creativity and ingenuity of our fellow artists, especially in the creative arts industry."

The concept was proposed by the students themselves, and produced from scratch, using environmentally friendly products.

The UBD Arts Market will run from April 22-24, and will also feature several other activities such as a Doodle Art Jam, a bike show and an art exhibition.
