Law Committee Vice Chairman Appointed


At the 3rd Ordinary Session of the National Assembly on Tuesday

 Mr Amphay Chitnamon, a National Assembly (NA) member of Sekong Province, the 16th constituency, has been elected as Vice Chairman of the NA’s Law Committee with 119 votes.

 

He was elected at the ongoing ordinary session of the NA’s Eighth Legislature in Vientiane on May 2 under the chairmanship of NA President Pany Yathortou.

 

Mr Amphay, 51, graduated with a Master’s Degree in Administrative Law in Japan, and is experienced in making and amending laws in the country.

 

Vice NA President, Mr Somphanh Phengkhammy said that the Law Committee is the ​secretariat for the National Assembly and Standing Committee for the affairs of making and amending laws. It is also a centre for coordination among NA’s committees, ministries, and government organisations for the making and amending affairs of laws before presenting them at the meeting of the NA Standing Committee.

 

The National Assembly comprises of the Law Committee; Economics, Technology and Environment Committee; Planning, Finance and Audit Committee; Cultural and Social Affairs Committee; Ethnic Affairs Committee, National Defense and Security Committee; Justice Committee; and Foreign Affairs Committee.
