Two wooden houses at Kampung Bahagia Jaya were gutted in an early morning fire, rendering 20 occupants homeless.

One of the houses accommodated 12 people, while the other eight occupants lived in a separate house.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received the distress call regarding the fire at about 12.23am and immediately dispatched two fire engines to the scene.

However, by the time they reached the site at 12.32am, the two houses were already almost completely destroyed by the blaze.

It was not immediately known what could have caused the fire and authorities are carrying out an investigation into the incident.

This was the third fire in Kampong Bahagia Jaya this year.
