Thirteen working Bruneian youths left the country to Japan to join ‘JENESYS 2016’, a youth programme with the Government of Japan.
Sending the youth participants off at Brunei International Airport was Tokuro Ambe, The First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam.
The theme of the programme is ‘Environmental Business’ and they will be visiting the Nagasaki prefecture on Kyushu Island where they will visit industrial waste disposal companies and how to turn waste into resources.
The delegates will also visit some of the sites around Nagasaki, including the atomic bomb site that was dropped on the city on August 9, 1945.
The government of Japan hopes that through this programme, the youths will have a deeper understanding about Japan and promote the close relationship between the two countries, while at the same time contributing the diversification of Brunei’s economy.
