Judo Demonstration Struck Bruneians in Awe

As a first step towards Judo Exchange Programs in Brunei Darussalam, a judo demonstration covering the basic forms and techniques of Judo held at the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.

 

The Judo Exchange Programme is organized by the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam and the demonstration features 6th Dan Chikara Kariya and his assistant, 5th Dan Shunsaku Kiryu, both greatly experienced martial artistes.

 

The programme started on May 15 and will continue until tomorrow.

 

The demonstration was attended by Noriko Iki, Japanese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam and Haji Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abdul Samad, Permanent Secretary at the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

 

The event was also attended by students from various schools; officers and staffs of the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam and the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

 

The Judo Demonstration, part of programmes aimed at enhancing the understanding between Brunei and Japan, is a joint collaboration of the Japan Foundation Asia Center and Kodokan Judo Institute.
