BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

A local woman was ordered by the Magistrate's Court to pay a fine of BND$4,600 after he pleaded guilty to possession of prohibited frozen food items at home.

The thirty-three-year-old defendant settled the fine yesterday itself.

The food items were recovered by a team of Customs preventive and Halal Control Food Division officers who conducted an inspection at defendant Lizawati binti Awang Mohamed's house in Kampong Tanah Jambu, at 8.50pm on January 31, 2016.

The officers found several boxes containing 43.8 kilogrammes of bishop's nose chicken parts as well as 351 packets of Rose brand chicken franks at the house.

The defendant admitted that she purchased the items from a Sabahan man at Muara Beach for her and family's own consumption.

She also admitted that she knew it was an offence to keep such items without a permit.

Magistrate Azrimah binti Abdul Rahman presided over the case.
