First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, the Deputy Minister of Defence yesterday received a courtesy call from Dr Mohammad Maliki bin Osman, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, who is in Brunei Darussalam for an official visit from May 16-19.
During the call, the Deputy Minister of Defence expressed his appreciation on Dr Mohammad Maliki’s annual visit to Brunei Darussalam in the last few years and both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue excellent and longstanding defence ties between both countries.
Since 1976, both countries have enjoyed a close relationship that has deepened over the years through multitude of interactions such as exchange of visit and military exercises.
The latest highest profile visit from the Republic of Singapore was from the Minister of Defense, Dr. Ng Eng Hen in August last year when the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Singapore, Dr. Ng Eng Hen was in the country during the 40th anniversary of defence relations between the two countries and as well as he receives a courtesy call from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam
