In an effort to educate the public regarding the road traffic accidents and also to help people understand various facets of the law better. This was hosted by the Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) and Messer Yusof Halim and Partners which was held at the Lecture Room, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
According to him, in case of property damage of others or injuries to humans or animals, the driver must stop according to Chapter 33, Road Traffic Act, and Chapter 68 of which BND2 000 fines for failing to stop at an accident that does not involve humans.
While failing to stop and give assistance to the injured person will be liable to imprisonment of 1 year, fines BND8,000 and driving license suspended for two years under Chapter 31.
He also touched the difference between police investigations and damage claims.
MKM is a non-governmental organisation which specializes in reaching out to the community. MKM also announced that its Legal and Advisory Clinic, which is conducted every Wednesday at Messer Yusof Halim and Partners, as well as legal talks, will be taking a short break for the holy month of Ramadhan.
