The monitoring of Al-Quran reading for the 71 times Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for Mukim and Kampong Consultative Council members and school students nationwide in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 71st Birthday celebration were held throughout the country this afternoon. A total of 1 thousand 7 hundred and 8 people comprising Mukim and Kampong Consultative Council members as well as youths including students under the Ministry of Education took part. Also taking part were students from the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute, Arabic schools, Tilawah Al-Quran Schemes for youths and children under 12 years old representing arabic and religious schools as well as the Khatam Al-Quran Scheme for children under 10.

 

In the Tutong District, Monitoring of 71 times Khatam Al Quran reading was held at the Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammed Alam mosque in Kampung Sengkarai. Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs in his capacity as the Chairman  of the National Committee of His Majesty's 71st Birthday Anniversary.

 

Also Present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong, member of the Legislative Council; Awang Muhammad Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohamad Yunos, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office; Awang Haji Muhammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs; Awang Roslan bin Haji Tajaah, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, Tutong District Officer. This year, Tutong District was participated by 412 participants.

 

In the Brunei Muara District, a similar ceremony was held at the Jame 'asr Hassanil Bolkiah. The ceremony began with the reading of Suran Al-Fatihah led by Retired Captain Abdul Rahman bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence. 692 people are taking part this year. Also present were legislative council members Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohammed Bin Pengiran Haji Osman @Othman, Yang Berhormat Awang Naim Bin Haji Kamis and Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Ali Bin Pengiran Maon, as well as Awang Haji Azmi Bin Haji Abd Rahim, the Acting Brunei Muara District Officer.

 

In the Temburong district, such a ceremony was held at the Mohammaad Salleh Main Mosque in Bangar town. Present was Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof; the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This year 192 people will participate in the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony. Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji EMRAN bin Haji Sabtu, member of the Legislative Council and Awg Mohd Amir Hairil bin Haji Mahmud, Tembuorng district officer.

 

In the Belait district, the monitoring ceremony was held at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque. Present to monitor the reading of this year's participants was Haji Zakaria Bin Haji Serudin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health. Also present were members of the Legislative Council, Yang Berhormat Awang Hanapi bin Mohd Siput and Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abd Hamid bin Haji Mumin, Awang Haji Idris Bin Haji Md Ali, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Awang Haji Adnan Bin Adam, Acting Belait district officer. 412 participants will take part in the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony.
