Informal education at home provided by parents, grassroots leaders and the community play a vital role in nurturing and inculcating Islamic values. It is a priority in efforts to steer children away from drugs abuse. It can also provide awareness on the importance of strong akidah or faith in life as a community or nation. The view was expressed by the President of the Anti-Drugs Association, BASMIDA during the BASMIDA Outreach Programme at Kampung Sungai Teraban in the Belait District this morning.
According to Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohamad Ali, access to the latest information on drugs is an integral part of precautionary measures. Datin Hajah Masni said education on the prevention of the misuse of drugs is a very effective step in providing positive motivation and awareness to youth and adults to ensure they always viewed the effects of drugs abuse seriously.
A special talk on the prevention of drug abuse through strengthening the family institution was delivered by Haji Ismuhadi bin Haji Abdullah, and Islamic Da'wah Centre Officer. Drug abuse is a global problem that affects all levels of society regardless of age, sex or status. BASMIDA will continue to assist in eradicating drug abuse for the wellbeing of the country and the future generations.
