President Bounnhang Vorachit on May 24 visited Xaysomboun province to give guidance to local management regarding their leadership in various areas.

Xaysomboun was established on Dec 13, 2013 as the youngest province of Laos. The mountainous province has a population of over 85,000 people (according to the 2015 census) with five districts: Anouvong (the capital), Longcheng, Longxan, Hom and Thathom.

After being briefed on the socio-economic development in the province by its governor Maj. Gen. Thongloy Soulivong, President Bounnhang Vorachit gave a guidance speech to the management of the province.

The President urged the provincial management to disseminate the policy of the Party and government to the people to ensure they are properly understood, and place an emphasis on the socio-economic development of the province with a focus on efforts to reduce the poverty of local people.

The President asked the management to promote the agricultural production of local people, as well as human resource development, education and health, and apply prompt solutions to social ills.

President Bounnhang asked them to ensure the organisational structure of the province is properly structured and only people with proper levels of competence are recruited by the local administrative authorities.

On the same day, the president also presented office supplies and some cash with a total value of 100 million kip (US$12,219) to the provincial administration to ensure its work requirements.
