GADONG

Financial investment is one of a sophisticated financial management aspect and needs specific financial knowledge in the form of understanding and managing related risks. As such, these financial investment products will only be offered by professional institutions and individuals which are licensed by the authoritative party. The matters were among other things touched by Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Roselan bin Haji Mohd Daud, Acting Minister of energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office as a member of the Board of Director of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam, AMBD at the National Savings Day 2017 Ceremony and a financial Showcase, this afternoon.

Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Roselan said that AMBD statistics has shown that the number of individual financial investment has increased to 13 percent last year compared to the year before. However, effort to disseminate information on investment products and services in the country need to be further enhanced. According to the survey carried out by AMBD with the cooperation of Brunei Darussalam Capital Market, BCMA, only 36 percent from the respondents surveyed have financial investment apart from savings in the bank. Among the reasons given by the respondents were lack of knowledge on the matters. As such, Dato Paduka believes with the official establishment of BCMA, they can cooperate with other stakeholders in making the country's aspiration a realisation in enhancing the public's knowledge and their level of financial literate on financial products as well as investment.

At the ceremony, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Roselan also officiated the establishment of Brunei Darussalam Capital Market Association, BMCA and presented prizes to winners of the Radio Promo Competition which was opened to government and private secondary school as well as Video Promo Competition which was opened to the general public in conjunction with National Savings Day 2017.

Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Roselan also takes a closer look at a Financial Showcase at the Lobby of The Mall, Gadong. The one-day exhibition showcased financial management products and services, Among the institutions took part in the showcase were AMBD, Tabung Amanah Pekerja, Baiduri Bank Berhad, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and Standard Chartered Bank
