Reciting the Al-Quran or Tedarus, is a deed that is rewarded multiple folds during this holy month of Ramadan. Yesterday., members of the Brunei Darussalam Women Council organised the Opening of Tedarus Ceremony for 13 associations affiliated to the Council. The ceremony was held at the residence of Pengiran Datin Paduka Hajah Mariam binti Pengiran Haji Matarsat, First Vice President of the Womens Council in Kampung Manggis Dua.

More than 50 members of the associations affiliated to the Women Council took part in the tedarus ceremony. It commenced with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Pengiran Datin Paduka Hajah Mariam binti Pengiran Haji Matarsat and followed by the recitation of Al-Quran verses.

The Associations affiliated to the Council are Pertiwi, WI, PGGMB, Bistari, the Girl Guides, the Belait Women Welfare Association, Bakti, Siswazah, Perganita, Bakanita, Perbekal, Pewaja and the Nurul Islam. Also present were members of the Women Bureau of the Kampong Manggis Consultative Council and PENJURU Association. Such a function could further strengthen relations among the association members besides improving the quality of quran-reading.
