BANJARMASIN

South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor was optimistic that the cross-Kalimantan railway construction will soon be realized in not too distant future, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

According to the governor, the local government will continue to convince the central government that the railway construction in the province will soon be realized.

“This is in the framework of the hard effort to improve the economic growth and prosperity of the people,” said the governor in Banjarmasin on Tuesday.

It will continue to monitor and establish communication with the central government. He revealed that the railway development plan is still being discussed by the relevant ministries at the central level and is expected to be realized in accordance with the mutual expectations.

Previously reported that construction of railways in South Kalimantan began 2017 and is predicted to be completed and can be operated around 2019.

The railway line that will be built starts from the port of Trisakti Banjarmasin to Tabalong district.

The routes covered Trisakti Port, Jalan Gubernur Soebarjo (south ringroad), Jalan Gubernur Syarkawi (north ringroad), Syamsudin Noor Airport, and Cempaka (Banjarbaru).

Then in Banjar district include Martapura and Simpang Empat Pengaron. Passed to Rantau (Tapin District), and Kandangan (South Hulu Sungai).

Furthermore, this railway line will be forwarded to Barabai (Central Hulu Sungai), Balangan and Tanjung (Tabalong district).

Special Balangan, the railway will cross two sub-districts, Batumandi and Lampihong, while for sub-station will be built in the Village of Mampari, Lampihong.

The reason for the construction of the sub-station, in addition to being in the Spatial Plan (RTRW), the texture of it soil is sandy. Mampari Village is also close to the border of Balangan and North Hulu Sungai.

Based on the results of the last meeting, the beginning of 2016 begins the process of land acquisition, so that in 2017-2018 the stage of rail construction and other facilities can be done. It is expected that in 2019 railway line can operate.
