Former Sabah Public Works Director Claims Trial To Bribery Charges

A former Public Works Department director claimed trial at the Corruption Court here today to two charges of receiving valuable things without consideration from a manager of a project in Labuan.
Ismail Che Ros, 60, who appeared before judge Abu Bakar Manat, is facing charges under Section 165 of the Penal Code.
On the first charge, the accused, who was represented by counsel Zahir Shah, allegedly received accommodation and golf packages valued at RM2,880.90 at a prominent hotel here from the manager of a project at Kampung Gersik in Labuan at a room of the hotel between Aug 5 and 7, 2015.
The second charge alleged the accused of receiving RM5,000 from the same person at the same place on Aug 6, 2015.
The court fixed July 17 this year for the case management and released him on a bail of RM10,000 with one surety.
He was also ordered to report once a month at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s office in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and his passport is to be kept by the court, pending disposal of the case.
The accused informed the court that he is still in service at Alor Gajah in Melaka.
Deputy public prosecutor Rozana Abdul Hadi prosecuted.
