KOTA KINABALU, SABAH

A six-month-old baby girl suffered burns on her cheeks in a fire that destroyed a workers’ dwelling at a construction site in Kampung Telibong near Tuaran yesterday.

State Fire and Rescue Department Public Relation Officer, Superintendent Mohd Affendy Ramli said the baby was sent to Tuaran Hospital by the Emergency Medical Rescue Service following the incident at 10.45am.

He said the baby was reported to be in stable condition after being treated at the Tuaran Hospital.

“No unwanted incident was reported except six-year-old toddler who sustained minor burns on her left cheek,” he said yesterday.

Mohd Affendy said the Tuaran Fire and Rescue station received a distress call at 10.53am and immediately deployed two fire engines with 12 personnel to the scene.

The firefighters managed to control the blaze by 11.08am while the whole operation ended at 11.30am, he said.
