Laos and China will continue to strengthen their longstanding close coordination for the benefits of the two nations in the future.

The commitment was made by Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the occasion of Mr Wang’s working visit to the Lao PDR on April 22-24.

The visit of Mr Wang Yi and his delegation to Laos was in response to an invitation by Mr Saleumxay.

The objective of the visit was to strengthen the friendly relations and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

During the bilateral meeting held on April 23 in Vientiane Capital, the two delegations highly valued their cooperative ties which have been continuously strengthened and deepened in various areas namely economics, trade, investment, and tourism, resulting in a number of successes.

The outstanding achievements of the cooperation included the launch of the first Lao satellite and the construction of the Laos-China Railway Project. The two projects constitute historic cooperation between Laos and China.

The two ministers also discussed preparations for the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and China which will be held later this year.

Both sides also reaffirmed their support for each other in both regional and international arenas.
