BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
Giving alms is giving away something voluntarily at any time to anyone, and hope for blessings from Allah the Almighty. Usually, alms are given to those in need.
Doctor Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar, Director of Core Knowledge Centre at the Seri Begawan Religious Teacher's University College, KUPU SB explained that giving alms in Islam is divided into two namely; giving alms under religious obligation such as paying tithe, and voluntarily giving alms at any time and to anyone, especially to those in need. This can be in any form, be it financial assistance, items or even manpower.
In the country, care and attentiveness from various government and non-government agencies as well as non-government organisations can be seen via welfare activities such presentation of donations to orphans, the poor and destitute, people with special needs and others. Giving alms has multitude of benefits, and this includes building closer rapport among one another.
It is hoped that such religious deeds continue to be carried out in the country. Rasulullah Salallahu 'Alaihi Wassalam once said on the benefits of giving alms in the month of Ramadan. Those who carried out such deed during this holy month will reap multitude of blessings from Allah the Almighty.
