More than three thousand youths took part in the 6th Nationwide Youth Al-Quran Tadarus Gathering Ceremony. The Nationwide Youth Al-Quran Tadarus Gathering Ceremony for male youths was held at the Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampung Kiarong. Attending the event was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi, Minister of Health as the Acting Minister of Home Affairs, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education and Dato Paduka Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.

The ceremony began with a reading of surah Al-Fatihah led by Awang Ahmad Zulwaqar bin Suhaili, Champion of the National Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran 2017. The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony was headed by Awang Muhammad Asmawi bin Haji Abu Bakar, a student of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute. The reading of the tahtim was presented by the University Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, UNISSA Takhtim Group. The Doa Khatam was read by Awang Muhammad Yusrun bin Haji Jahari, a Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute student. The Dikir Marhaban was presented by The UNISSA Dikir Group. The Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan was read by Awang Ahmad Zulwaqar bin Suhaili.

The gathering ceremony was hoped to enhance youth understanding on the importance of reading and assimilating Al-Quran as a life guide, in line with the desires of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The monarch in a titah during the recently held Nuzul Al-Quran ceremony among other matters stressed that His Majesty's government has continuously promoted al-Quran studies from the lower level to the upper levels so that Al-Quran and religion will not be left behind.

His Royal Highness then joined the youths in performing the mass fardhu zohor prayer. The organisation of such gathering ceremonies is hoped to enhance and strengthen understanding and cooperation amongst the agencies involved in youth development and education. It also provides space for the youths to self-reflect on their role and responsibility in line with the position as a valuable asset to the country in developing, make prosperous and defending the continuation of the race's survival and country's sovereignty.
