Pay Tithe or Zakat Fitrah before Hari Raya Aidil Fitri

While busily preparing for Hari Raya, Muslims in the country are reminded not to overlook their commitment to pay the zakat fitrah or tithe in time before Hari Raya. This year, some 309 tithe collectors have been appointed throughout the country to collect zakat fitrah and property tithes. The role of tithes in building socio economy and the Muslim community are vital and must be assimilated fully by the muslims.
Tithe payments take place from early Ramadhan until before the imam performs the sunnat Solat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri on the 1st of Syawal. 323 tithe collectors have been appointed for 141 areas and places to collect tithes across the country. Out of the 323 tithe collectors, 190 tithe collectors have been appointed in the Brunei Muara District, 25 for the Belait District while 49 for the Tutong District and 23 for the Temburong District, as well as 36 tithe collectors for the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB.
The rates of zakat fitrah ot tithe for each individual whose staple food is fragrant rice is 2 dollars 84 cents while the tithe rates for siam rice is one dollar 93 cents which is equivalent to 2.268 kilogramme of rice. The obligation to pay tithes has its own wisdom and benefits to the Muslims in particular. Paying the tithes can also prevent one from being stingy and selfish.
