The director of Samsenwittayalai School has been transferred to an advisory position at the Education Ministry after being accused of receiving a 400,000-baht bribe from a parent of a student, a charge he denies.

Local media reported that Viroj Samruan had been made an adviser to a newly formed committee to improve services at the Bangkok office of the Secondary Educational Services Area.

The assignment was reported to be a temporary transfer, effective from Monday, while authorities investigate the bribery allegation.

Mr Viroj on Monday denied the allegation that he had received a parent's bribe. He said the widely shared video clip had been doctored to frame him as some school alumni were upset that their children could not be enrolled at the school.

Chana Wongmusik, a former provincial councillor in Nakhon Si Thammarat and an alumnus of Samsenwittayalai School, said on Saturday that the government should order all school directors and deputies to declare their assets.
