Local Absentee Voting by Gov’t, PNP, AFP, Media Men on Today

Those whose applications for local absentee voting (LAV) were approved will start casting their votes today, Wednesday, April 27.

 

Voting under the  LAV program under until Friday, April 29, are government officials and employees, members of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippine, and media practitioners that are registered voters but will not be able to vote on Election Day due to the performance of their functions.

 

Government officials and employees as well as the police and military will be voting at designated voting centers identified by their superiors. Media men are to vote at the Comelec offices where they also filed their applications to avail of the local absentee voting.melec logo

 

 

Comelec Committee on Local Absentee Voting (CLAV) head Commissioner Rowena Guanzon had earlier said that 24,814 applications were approved for LAV out of the 28,705 that were filed. Based on Comelec Resolution No. 10003, voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Those who will be availing of the LAV will be voting only for the positions of president, vice president, senators, and party-list group. Voters will be using the manual system of voting with their accomplished ballots to be kept in sealed envelopes.

 

Counting of LAV votes by the Special Board of Election Inspectors (SBEIs) shall commence in the evening of May 9 using the manual system of counting of vertical and diagonal lines, and in the presence of all representatives of the candidates and political parties.
