Traditional Grand Royal Birthday Parade

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah expresses pleasure in seeing various efforts produce developments and accomplishments that bring pride to the nation. The Monarch wishes that the efforts will be expedited to increase the Gross Domestic Product, GDP which in His Majesty's view is still slow. The Monarch also touches on the importance of Ministries and departments to expedite efforts to increase Gross Domestic Product growth which His considers is still slow. His Majesty made the titah during the Audience and Investiture ceremony at the Balai Singgahsana, Indera Buana Istana Nurul Iman in conjunction with His Majesty's 71st Birthday celebration. In the titah, His Majesty also expresses pride in seeing more Bruneian youth engaging in business and entrepreneurship and is confident local companies are capable of penetrating foreign markets. However, His Majesty stresses that in the quest for excellence, Islamic education should continue to be enhanced to ensure the balance between religion or spirituality and the worldly things, especially in today's world which is widely exposed to mixed cultures. His Majesty's Birthday celebration began with the traditional Grand Royal Birthday Parade at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in the capital.
Despite the early morning, the road leading to Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien was lively as about six thousand (6,000) students lined the route waving miniature national flags in welcoming His Majesty. The beating of the hadrah by five hundred people echoed around the Taman enlivening further the arrival of His Majesty.
Shortly after arriving, His Majesty received the Royal salute, as the sound of a 21 gun salute resounded in the air, followed by the National Anthem.
Also attending the ceremony were His Majesty's eldest son and brothers,
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah; the Crown Prince,
His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad Bolkiah,
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, and
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah;
The grand ceremony was also attended by the special guests of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam including, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Musa bin Haji Aman, the Chief Minister of Sabah and wife. Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, the Chief Minister of Sarawak and wife. His Excellency Masagos Zulkifli bin Masagos Mohamad, the Minister for Environment and Water Resources of the Republic of Singapore and wife. The Honourable Secretary Carlos Garcia Domingues the 3rd, the Secretary of Finance of the Republic of the Philippines and wife, His Excellency, General Anantaporn Kanjanarat, the Minister of Energy of Thailand and wife, Yang Berbahagia General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi bin Raja Mohamed Noor, the Chief of the Armed Forces of Malaysia and Yang Terhormat Police General, Doctor Andas Haji Mohamad Tito Karnavian, the Chief of Police National Indonesia and wife.
His Majesty then consented to inspect the Guard of Honour mounted by 1,244 personnel comprising members of the Royal Brunei Land Force, the Royal Brunei Navy, the Royal Brunei Air Force, the Royal Brunei Police Force, and uniformed Government Departments and organisations. The Guard of Honour was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Aldi bin Haji Hassan.
Music played by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Band and the Royal Brunei Police Band accompanied the drill performance and march past in front of the Royal Dias.
The 15th of July is an important and significant date for the country's citizens and residents in the history of the nation and the Monarchy. It is the moment and time for the people to express their happiness, appreciation and their undivided loyalty to His Majesty for His Majesty's wise leadership and caring nature towards the citizens and residents of the country.
Under His Majesty's strong and caring leadership, the people have enjoyed peace, prosperity and security that have enabled them to live in harmony while continuing to enjoy progress and development in many areas as well as increasingly better quality life.
The three cheers of "DAULAT KEBAWAH DULI TUAN PATIK" again echoed the people's undivided loyalty for their beloved Monarch.
The fly past of the Royal Brunei Air Force helicopters added colour and life to the Bandar Seri Begawan skyline.
Various programmes have been arranged for His Majesty's birthday celebration. Apart from the Grand Parade, the Get Together and Junjung Ziarah with the citizens and residents are also among the main events that make up a unique platform towards closer relations between the Monarch and the people.
