Lao Federation of Trade Unions lunched on Monday hotline 1512 and Facebook account where its members and workers can voice concerns about their rights and interest.

The lunch of the hotline aims to ensure the members of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions and workers access information about trade unions and workers across the country, Vice President of Lao Federation of Trade Unions, Mr Simoun Ounlasy told a press conference in Vientiane Capital on Jul 17.

Mr Simoun said that the hotline would be used for answering public questions and counselling services in line with applicable laws of the Lao PDR, especially the law on labour, the law on Lao Federation of Trade Unions, the law on social assurance, and the law on anti-human trafficking and for promoting the protection of the rights and interest of workers and members of trade unions.

Currently, several Lao government bodies operate hotlines, encouraging citizens to raise issues or concerns and seek explanations and solutions from relevant bodies.

In April this year, the Ministry of Finance lunched hotline 1519.

Last year, the National Assembly lunched its hotline 156 in November, the Ministry of Public Security hotline 1191 was opened in August, the Government Office and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce lunched hotlines 1516 and 1510, respectively.
