TEMBURONG
Since early morning, thousands of rakyat and residents in the Temburong District gathered at the Temburong Civic Centre Complex Padang to welcome His Majesty's arrival in the district. The people's presence at the ceremony conveyed their gratitude and loyalty to His Majesty. His Majesty's wise leadership has guaranteed the country's peace and harmony.
The happiness showed on the people's faces when their beloved Monarch consented to mingle freely with them. Among them were senior citizens, residents of Mukims Bangar, Bokok, Batu Apoi, Amo and Labu. Also greeting His Majesty were uniformed personnel, and members of government and non-governmental organisations.
Accompanying His Majesty at the junjung ziarah ceremony was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik; and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen.
The district's development is a result of the monarch's wise leadership. The construction of the 30 kilometre-long bridge linking Brunei Muara District with the Temburong District is among the country's landmarks in infrastructural development. Such development not only expedites communications between Temburong and other districts, but also contributes to the country's economy.
The "Permata Hijau" or Green Jewel district is known for its vast unspoilt tropical rainforest, which become the attraction to researchers, tourists and nature lovers. Last year, a total of 30 researchers from the United Kingdom, Austria, Korea, Holland, and Singapore carried out their research at the district. Meanwhile this year, 11 researchers from several foreign universities including the Republic of Czech, Austria and United States of America has made Temburong District as their focal research on bio-diversity.
The presence of rakyat and residents at this ceremony proved their continuous support and willingness to uphold the monarch's leadership and vision in leading the government and the country. The traditional ceremony has reached its objective as a unique platform to strengthen relations between the Sultan and rakyat.
His Majesty and members of the royal family ended the visit to Temburong district with a luncheon at the Community Hall of the district. At the function, the monarch cut the Royal Birthday cake and received a pasambah. Doa selamat was read by Awang Haji Sahrin bin Haji Kadih, Temburong District Shari'ah Subordinate Court Judge. Before leaving the function, His Majesty and members of the royal family received greetings and junjung ziarah from members of the royal birthday celebration executive committee.
