South African Premier Soccer League side Maritzburg United have secured the signature of Australian junior international Liam Youlley, the club confirmed on their official website.
The midfielder, who has played in the A-League with Western Sydney Wanderers, was developed through the Sydney Olympic club which also produced the likes of former Everton and current Australia star Tim Cahill, and ex-international goalkeeper Mark Bosnich.
"We welcome Liam Youlley to the Team of Choice and wish him all the best as [sic] he concluded a two-year deal with an option," the club announced on Friday.
Youlley has played extensively for the Australia Under-20 side and arrives as the latest Antipodean import to South Africa's domestic top-flight.
The most successful of these have been New Zealanders Jeremy Brockie and Michael Boxall, who has since departed for Minnesota United.
Australians James Brown and Matt Sim joined Cape Town City at the start of last season and while only the latter was a success, he decided to return home after six months.
Maritzburg United finished seventh in the PSL last season, their best finish in the top flight. The side is coached by former striker Fadlu Davids.
