This year's National Youth Day celebration that gathered more than five thousand youths was made more enthralling with a get together or assembly based on 'Menghulur Kasih, Menyemai Ikatan' which literary means 'Extending Affection, Nurturing Relations' that places emphasis on two main components in the creation a united community.  His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the event at the Main Conference Hall of the International Convention Centre.

The Youth Get Together this year presented youths from different backgrounds who joined forces in thirty three voluntary projects. The youths had responded to His Majesty call for them to be moral and of commendable character, patriotic, respectful of the people's interests as well as being affectionate in their voluntary service to the public.

'Menghulur Kasih, Menyemai Ikatan' stresses that the leaders and youth should work in unity and play a major role towards accomplishing Wawasan Brunei 2035.  'Menghulur Kasih' means the assistance and skills contributed to society that the youth should make into a way of life or practice.  Meanwhile, Menyemai Ikatan' means establishing relations and affection between the youth and youth organizations as a strong force to building the community together.

The projects showcased at the assembly are the latest and have been run as Model Projects.  All the voluntary projects are hoped to act as catalysts and motivators to more voluntary programs inspired by the youth.

As the country's important assets, youths play a major role in building and shaping the future of the country and the people. His Majesty once said in a titah that youths must prepare themselves to become truly valuable and top quality assets befitting the challenges they face in this century. His Majesty calls on the youths not to delay or hesitate in their transformation towards progress and shaping the country together. The Monarch also stresses the proactive contribution of the youths is very vital to spur excellence in every field. Visionary and excellent youths are the country's dream youths because without them the nation will lose its pillar of strength.

Brunei Darussalam takes pride in the achievements of its youths which are not confined to within the country but also in the international arena.  A number of youths have brought international glory to the country in fields such as religion, sports, travel and adventure and entrepreneurship.  These they accomplished at international expositions and extreme sports and adventure activities, showing the world that Brunei Darussalam is a developing world force.  As befits the objective of the celebration to give recognition to the country's youth and youth movements, it is also hoped the celebration will encourage more youths to participate in more youth activities and national development efforts in general, including voluntary work.

His Majesty's presence at the event again displayed His Majesty's great care and interest in the country's youth development. This in turn will inspire and motivate them not only towards achieving Wawasan Negara 2035 but also place the nation among the developing countries in diverse fields in line with the celebration's theme, 'Belia Berdaya Usaha dan Berinovasi Menjayakan Wawasan Negara'. The assembly was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports with the support of Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad.
