A local woman has been detained for an offence under the Section 94-A of the Criminal Penal Code. The 25-year-old woman was believed to be involved in immoral activities.  The arrest was made by the Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppression Unit during a raid on a rest house at Kampung Jaya Setia in Jalan Berakas.

The accused and the evidence were detained pending further investigation.  If found guilty and if it was a first offence, the accused would be liable to a fine of not less than 500 dollars and not more than 5 thousand dollars, and one year imprisonment.  For the second and subsequent offences, the accused would be liable to a fine of not less than one thousand dollars and not exceeding 10 thousand dollars and three year imprisonment.
