BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
Friday Sermon
Performing the Haj is only obligatory when one has the capabilities such as having the money or other assets, good health as well as security while going to and from the pilgrimage. A person is deemed able to perform the haj when he or she has the money and accommodation not only for personal use but also for the dependents left behind.
Hence, those who are able should perform the haj as soon as possible because Islam encourages its followers to hasten to do good deed especially the obligatory religious acts. Today's Friday sermon focused on "The Preparations for Intending Pilgrims."
In the sermon, the prayer leader said Allah the Almighty blesses and rewards the good deeds, especially the obligatory ones. The pilgrimage to Makkah Al-Mukaramah is very important and for the Haj to be accepted by Allah, the pilgrims must perform the rukun or essential, wajib or obligatory and sunnat or preferable acts correctly.
The preferable or commendable acts that one is mostly encouraged to do include performing the Sunnat prayers, Quran reading, the sunnat or commendable tawaf, supplication, zikir, salawat, keeping vigil in the mosque and giving alms.
