Jakarta’s Civil Registry and Demographics Agency has received another batch of 400,000 e-ID forms from the Home Ministry.

The agency head Edison Sianturi said on Friday that his office could now begin processing the cards for applicants who met the requirements and had submitted their data.

"We have received 400,000 forms and they will be enough," he said as quoted by kompas.com, adding that around 259,000 applicants in the city had yet to receive their e-ID cards.

"It is fine until now. Hopefully there will be another batch delivered once the forms run out," he said.

The nationwide procurement of the e-ID project has been plagued by massive corruption, which is alleged to have caused Rp 2.3 trillion (US$172.72 million) in state losses, leading to citizens who had registered to get their e-IDs having to wait for months before finally getting them. (vny)
