PETALING JAYA

Switzerland celebrated its National Day on Aug 1, and the square, red flag with the white cross can be seen across the country. In all that red and white, there is some blue and yellow, too, as the Jalur Gemilang flies proudly in Zurich.

In a show of support for the #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017, Mohamad Fauzi Zakaria, a father of two, has taken it upon himself to be photographed at various venues with his family and the national flag.

The Terengganu-born Mohamed Fauzi, now a senior manager at global Swiss biotech company Clinical Quality, has been living in Zurich since 2011.

The 44-year-old photographed his children, Ain Nurdini, 16, and Azzim Zufri, seven, at several landmarks around the Swiss town. In one shot, Ain and Azzim were seen holding the Kami # #AnakAnakMalaysia 2017 sign along with the Jalur Gemilang in front of the Zurich lake. In the background is the Grossmünster, one of the main Protestant churches in the city with its earth-hued facade.

In another photo, the Jalur Gemilang in little Azzim’s hand stood out from among the blue and white of the background.

Ain and Azzim were also photographed in Zurich’s old town, proudly holding the Jalur Gemilang as Swiss flags could be seen hanging from buildings.

Hello, Malaysia: Ain and Azzim in front of the Grossmnster, one of the main Protestant churches in Zurich.

“Switzerland celebrated its National Day on Aug 1, hence the many Swiss flags,” said Mohamad Fauzi.

The siblings were also photographed with the Jalur Gemilang in front of the biggest Nespresso boutique in Bleicherweg.

Student Izza Farhana Md Yusof, 22, also sent a photograph of herself from Australia showing her support for the walk. Izza, a chemical engineering student at the University of Queensland, was photographed in front of the university with a Jalur Gemilang and a Kami # #AnakAnakMalaysia 2017 sign.

The #AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017 aims to celebrate Malaysia’s diversity and promote unity and understanding among Malaysians.

The campaign is organised by Star Media Group in partnership with Eco World Development Group Bhd. Other sponsors for the event include Proton (car sponsor) and Panasonic (silver sponsor).

#AnakAnakMalaysia Walk 2017 will be held at Dataran Kemerdekaan, Shah Alam, on Aug 27.

The registration fee is RM80 for a family (two adults plus two children), RM40 for an adult (18 years and above) and RM15 for a child (seven to 17 years).
