6 thousand 5 hundred 49 Year 6 pupils from government and private primary schools throughout the country will sit for the Primary School Assessment, PSR this year. The PSR will take place from the 21st to the 30th of October. Various efforts and initiatives have been and is being carried out to ensure the increasing achievement of the pupils. This includes holding extra classes every Friday and Sunday.

Bengkurong Primary School is among the schools which has organised the extra class initiative. Before the study session begins, the pupils are given breakfast. The provision of breakfast will certainly contribute to a positive attitude, mental agility and optimisation of focus on the lessons.

Apart from holding extra classes, several other programmes were also assimilated in order to assist the pupils to sit for their PSR among them disclosing a number of effective and systematic study and revision techniques. This is to ensure that the teaching and learning session in the classroom is carried out effectively. According to Dayang Atikah Rumaizah binti Doctor Haji Harun, Headmistress of Bengkurong Primary School, a number of school initiatives such as the Muridku Sayang programme have been carried out, whereby for 15 minutes every Tuesday and Wednesday the students are gathered according to their respective abilities. There is also an intervention programme, whereby the students are given guidance of weak subjects or topics.

The Orang Kaya Setia Bakti Primary School in Kilanas has also organised extra classes specifically for students who will sit for the PSR. The school has instilled a group study concept based on the results of tests held last March. Extra classes organised since last April are held every Friday from 8 to 10 in the morning focusing on 4 subjects mainly English Language, Mathematics, Science and Malay Language. The school has also instilled the memorisation of multiplication tables from Year 1 to Year 6 and holds a Mathematics Month whereby pupils who have succeeded in memorising multiplication tables from 1 to 12 will be given prizes as incentives.

With an achievement of more than 82 point 1-4 percent in last year's PSR results, Mulaut Primary School works diligently in increasing the percentage of PSR passes by focusing on the 30 students this year. Focus is not only given to students with various learning initiatives, the teachers professionalism is also the main key towards the efficacy of their teaching. Extra classes every Friday and Sunday can be carried out by the school with the continuous support of parents in sending their children with consistency aside from sending them earlier to extra classes held before the school session starts.

Towards learning efficacy, during school days, the schools also perform the Hajat prayers, selawat to the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W and zikir Asma Al Husna in together seeking blessings for the efforts carried out. Such an effort will also enhance the mind of the pupils so that they will not feel burdened and tired after studying and revising and in facing the examination days with confidence.
