Representatives of government bodies and business community met on Aug 10 in Vientiane to discuss problems and challenges related to investment and investment effectiveness.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Khamlien Pholsena, representatives of the National Assembly and the Asian Development Bank.

“The government realizes the role of the private sector in strengthening investment environment contributing to the socio-economic development as we are in the era of competition, regional and international,” said Mr Khamlien.

“Currently, the investment in the form of public private partnership (PPP) has became an investment model largely applied in many countries in the regional and international communities,” said Mr Khamlien.

“PPP is a new form of investment playing a significant role in the socio-economic development in the country. It will ensure the effectiveness, transparency and sustainability of investment projects. It will help the government in terms of financial burden, project management, risk management especially for large scaled investment projects thus helping drive the country’s economic development,” said Mr Khamlien.
