GADONG

In order to instil an attitude of placing importance on cleanliness and beauty of the surroundings as well as efforts to maintain and ensure the cleanliness of assets in school vicinities, the Ministry of Education yesterday launched the Nationwide Cleanliness in Government School Surroundings Campaign with the theme, 'My School My Home'. The launching ceremony was held at Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah in Gadong.

The campaign was launched by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, THE Minister of Education. Before the start of the campaign, a contribution in the form of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Booklets was distributed to representatives from every department under the Ministry of Education, Higher Education Institutions and heads of clusters. The function ran concurrently with the handover of six grass cutting machines to heads of clusters.

Yang Berhormat Pehin then planted a flowering plant in the surrounding area of Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah. The campaign also upgraded the Teratak Wasilah Budi area and landscape of the college's Malay Studies Department. The cleaning campaign was conducted by the Administration and Services Department with the cooperation of the Schools Department and Department of Estate Management and Planning. The 'MD Recycle Drive' programme was also launched and will be held annually aimed at raising awareness on the use and importance of recycling to students. Also present was Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Education.
