ASEAN Federation of Land Surveying and Geomatics Meeting

Brunei Darussalam will host the 14th South East Asia Survey Congress for three days starting tomorrow. The congress among other matters acts as a platform to share idea and best practises that will be able to assist the participants to improve and practise the standard apart from identifying issues meaningful and productive for the benefit of all member countries. This afternoon, the ASEAN Federation of Land Surveying and Geomatics, ASEAN FLAG Meeting was held.
The meeting was attended by more than 20 representatives of ASEAN member countries, China, Japan and Korea. The meeting was chaired by Mohammad Azmi Mohd Zain, President of the ASEAN FLAG 2015-2017. ASEAN FLAG was established in 1995 during a meeting in Kuala Lumpur with the objectives of promoting and developing science, practising and carrying out land surveying and geomatics to the community, transfer of technology as well as enhance regional cooperation.
Awang Mohammad Azmi bin Mohd Zain, in explaining on the latest development of ASEAN FLAG said that the federation has gathered many ideas shared by surveyors from ASEAN. It combines institution, enterprise, non-political and civil society. Any issues pertaining to Geomatics, Land, Survey, Mapping and Survey Changes are recognised by the ASEAN Secretariat.
Brunei Darussalam was led at the meeting by Awang Haji Ali Bakar bin Haji Kasim, Surveyor General. In an interview, Awang Haji Ali Bakar said the meeting is aimed to promote and develop science, land surveying and geomatics application and practise for the development of the human and society as well as to enhance regional cooperation. According to the Surveyor General, cooperation in the technology will further ease the nations to develop their country respectively.
