Two Houses Gutted By Morning Blaze

An early morning fire has gutted two houses in Kampung Pengiran Bakut Siraja Muda 'A' in Kampong Ayer. No casualty was reported in the incident.
The Fire and Rescue Operations Centre received an emergency call at around four past seven this morning. Four fire boats from the Sungai Kebun, Pelancaran and Marine Fire Stations were dispatched to the area and managed to control the blaze within 20 minutes. The cause of the fire and amount of damage were still under investigation. Also present at the site was (Retired) Lieutenant Colonel Awang Yahya bin Haji Abdul Rahman, the Director of Fire and Rescue.
Following the incident, the Fire and Rescue Department has advised the public to practise caution and increase safety measures and awareness at their homes. Members of the public have been reminded to ensure their homes have fire prevention equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire blankets and smoke detectors. They should also ensure that electrical equipment are always under control and adhere to the correct standardisation, turn of electrical appliances when they leave the house and ensure that the gas cylinder regulator cap and hose are approved by Brunei Shell Marketing BSM. Another matter highlighted, was never leave cooking unattended. In case of an emergency, call the 995 Hotline.
