KUALA LUMPUR

Yeap Wai Kin (pic) once again upstaged compatriot Wong Weng Son to clinch gold, this time in the men's qiangshu (spear) event of the SEA Games wushu competition.

Wai Kin earned 9.68 points to take the gold medal ahead of teammate Weng Son, who finished with 9.65 points at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

This is the second gold medal for Penang-born Wai Kin, who won in the men's jianshu (sword) event on Sunday.

Phoon Eyin, meanwhile, claimed silver in the women's qiangshu (spear) event.

She chalked up 9.66 to take her second silver medal behind Vietnam's Duong Thuy Yi (9.67). She also finished second behind the Vietnamese in the women's jianshu (sword) on Sunday.

Myanmar's Sandy Oo took bronze with 9.65.
