'Ghostbusters' Trailer Ranks Among 'Most Disliked' Videos on YouTube

The Internet gives Sony Pictures a big thumbs-down, with the trailer garnering almost half a million votes. But, YouTube users appear to be even more averse to Justin Bieber videos.

A trailer for the upcoming reboot of "Ghostbusters" received a noticeable amount of criticism when it was released in March. It's only gotten worse since then and it's led to a dubious honor that may be the beginning of the end times for director Paul Feig's film.

In fact, the latest news for the film's trailer must be one of those "Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!" moments for Sony Pictures' marketing and PR department.

The trailer for the "Ghostbusters" movie -- starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones -- earned a noticeable spot on YouTube's playlist of the most disliked videos. As of Friday, it ranks 23rd on the list with more than 499,000 dislikes, making it the most disliked movie trailer on YouTube. The ranking puts it just above the music video for Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" and just below the video for the Justin Bieber song "What Do You Mean?"

Of course, no one will really know how good the new "Ghostbusters" movie is until they actually see it. A trailer isn't a rock-solid indication of a movie's quality or worthiness. It could just be a bad trailer. Bevan Bell, a filmmaker, recut a new trailer for the movie shortly after the official one's release. Bell combined several pieces of footage and stills from the new movie along with Ray Parker Jr.'s iconic "Ghostbusters" theme song in his cut and it actually does a much better job of selling the movie.

"Ghostbusters" hits theaters July 15 in the US and UK. An Australia opening date has yet to be announced.
