Friday Sermon

The Friday prayer is a weekly gathering that benefits the Muslims in this world and in the Hereafter.  Apart from providing advice and guidance, the Firday prayer also helps to enhance the people's faith in Allah the Almighty.  Performing the weekly prayer unites the ummah and foster closer relations among multi-ethnic neighbours and communities.  Prophet Muhammad Sallallah Alaihi Wassalam gives a stern warning to people who neglect or do not perform the Friday prayer.  The matter was the highlight the Friday sermon this afternoon.

The prayer leaders said prayers must be performed properly because it is the only way to gain Allah's blessings.  Among the sunnat or recommended rites are cleaning or bathing before going to the mosque and using perfume, arriving early at the house of worship to pray in the first saf or line, as well as reading Al-Quran, reciting the zikir, salawat and performing sunnat prayers.  The congregants are also advised to wear their best and cleanest clothes.  Meanwhile, clothes adorned with pictures and text are no preferred because they can make people less focused.  The sermon added the congregants must listen earnestly to the sermon because it is an essential part of the Friday prayer.
