MOSCOW, RUSSIA
First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit, Deputy Minister of Defence, recently attended the 5th Moscow Conference on International Security, which was organised by the Ministry of Defence of Russia, at the Congress Hall, Radisson Royal Hotel in Moscow, Russia.
During the opening of the conference, Army General Sergey Shoygu, the Minister of Defence of Russia, underscored the importance of the conference as a platform to discuss wide-ranging challenges of global and regional security issues and encouraged an enhanced military-to-military cooperation to address pressing security issues, especially in fighting global terrorism.
Sergey Shoygu also reiterated the importance of creating a broad anti-terrorist coalition based on the norms of international law and the United Nations.
Topics on the Middle East, Europe, Asia-Pacific security and the role of the Armed Forces in countering "colour revolutions" in Central Asia were also being discussed in the conference.
Accompanying First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz to the conference was Awang Abu Sufian bin Haji Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development) at the Ministry of Defence.
The conference brought together more than 500 participants, including senior defence and military officials as well as nongovernmental experts from over 50 countries.
