A multi-vehicle crash involving 11 vehicles killed four people in Karang Ploso district, Malang regency, West Java, on Friday.
Malang Police deputy chief Comr. Deky Hermasyah said two people died instantly, while two others died on the way to the hospital.
The victims have been identified as Kuswanto, Watsiti and Winati from Ngijo village, Karangploso and Sijatmiko from Blimbing district in Malang.
"The bodies were taken to Saiful Anwar Hospital in Malang," Deky said, as quoted by kompas.com.
The accident also left eight people severely injured. They were treated at Prasetya Husada Hospital in Karangploso.
Deky said a stuck gas pedal caused the driver of a truck to lose control and crash into vehicles ahead of it.
"The truck crashed into vehicles in front it, including an angkot [public minivan] and an SUV," he said, adding that it also crashed into eight motorcycles.
