3 Locals Charged In Customs Case

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

 

 

3 locals including 2 women were brought before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court for offences under the Excise Order 2006.

 

A 30-year old, Mohammad Isa bin Haji Mohammad was found guilty of possessing 13 cartons and 8 packets cigarettes of various brands.  The accused was fined 13 thousand 700 dollars or 6 months imprisonment in default. The defendant was given a period of 8 months to settle the fine.

 

A 28-year-old, Heryuni binti Matali, was found guilty of possessing 18 packets cigarettes of various brands. The accused was sentenced to 1 month imprisonment.

 

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old, Siti Nuramalina binti Emran, was found guilty of possessing 15 packets of cigarettes of various brands and one bottle of alcoholic drinks. The accused was fined 2 thousand dollar or 2 months imprisonment in default. The accused was given a period of 3 months to settle the fine. All the contraband was seized to be destroyed.
