The Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court has passed a sentence against Police Constable of the Royal Brunei Police Force, PC 5491 Rusdi bin Abdul Rahim. When brought before the Magistrate's Court on the 12th of December 2015, the defendant pleaded not guilty to one charge of corruption, an offence under the Section 6(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, Chapter 131.

The money was received as an inducement to the said Philippine National to not take action against him for committing an offence of using mobile phone whilst driving, an offence under the Road Traffic Act Chapter 68. The court sentenced the defendant to 14 months imprisonment and imposed an additional penalty in the amount of 100 dollars to be paid to the Government of Brunei Darussalam, and failure to pay the penalty will face an additional two weeks imprisonment.
