Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith on Aug 30 paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak Yon in Seoul on the occasion of his working visit to the republic to attend the 8th Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and the 7th Mekong-Republic of Korea (RoK) Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held on Aug 31-Sep 2 in Busan.

 

At amicable talks, the Korean Prime Minister highly valued the visit to the Republic of Korea by the Lao minister and his participation in the meetings which constitutes a significant contribution to strengthening the relations and cooperation in all areas especially in foreign affairs.

 

The host and guest highly valued the friendly bilateral relations and cooperation in economic, trade investment areas and, specifically, in tourism area which is growing with Laos being among popular destinations for R. Korea visitors.

 

Minister Saleumxay expressed gratitude to the government of the Republic of Korea for the assistance it has provided to Laos over the past decades under bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

 

Mr Saleumxay also conveyed to the host the greetings from Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and expressed congratulations to Lee Nak Yon upon his appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea and expressed his hope that the new government under the leadership of Prime Minister Lee Nak Yon will continue to enhance the friendly relations and sound cooperation between Laos and the Republic of Korea.

 

The Minister also informed the host about the result of his discussion with his Korean counterpart Kang Kyung-wa.
