Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith visited Phnom Penh to discuss with his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Sep 1 resolutions to the Laos-Cambodia border issues.
The discussion between the two Prime Ministers was made in a manner of friendship and good neighbourliness.
Both premiers agreed to assign the foreign ministers of the two countries to have a meeting in the near future to discuss in detail resolutions to the border issues and the border committees of the two countries to inspect the border areas where border markers are yet to be planted and inspect Kengtomokhoy-Houayta-ngao areas to determine where border markers will be planted to accelerate the border demarcation of the two countries.
The prime Minister said that border markers must be planted wherever both parties have agreed upon so that they can work on other markers.
Both Prime Ministers will send letters to the President of France requesting the latter to send maps with scales of 1/100,000 and 1/50,000 and other documents related to the determination of Laos-Cambodia border to the governments of Laos and Cambodia so that they can be used as evidence for settling the border issues.
Both Prime Ministers agreed to keep the conflicted border areas in peace and security so that the people of the two countries can live in peace and friendship.
