Outgoing Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat has said he plans to inaugurate 100 child-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRA) on Oct. 10 at the National Monument compound in Gambir, Central Jakarta, five days before his term ends.
Djarot said at City Hall on Thursday evening that he wanted to put the city in a strong position before leaving office.
“I will finish my service as Jakarta governor on Oct. 15 and, before that day, I will provide the city with a good foundation,” Djarot said. “I hope Jakarta will become better."
RPTRA is the signature program of Djarot and his predecessor, Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama.
Djarot replaced Ahok, who was convicted of blasphemy in May.
Currently, the city owns 186 RPTRA across the capital. In 2017, the administration set aside from the city budget around Rp 157.8 billion (US$11.9 million) to build an additional 100 RPTRA.
