In the past 33 years, relations between Brunei Darussalam and Japan have been stable and fruitful evident through bilateral trade and two-way investments, as well as student exchanges at various levels including higher education. Japan's presence is not only strong in Brunei but most importantly, the ASEAN region. According to Yang Berhormat Pehin, there are many more areas of collaboration that can be ventured into by ASEAN and Japan apart from the Halal industry. However, Yang Berhormat Pehin stressed that both nations need to be proactive in recognising those areas. As such, the 23rd ASCOJA Conference is a great platform to form networks and seek collaboration in areas not yet explored.
Also present were His Excellency Yasuo Fukuda, Former Prime Minister of Japan and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, the Deputy Minister of Education.
